Today, people are making money off cryptocurrency because they have the money and resources to take the chance on it. However, there is the potential of everything going away from physical currency and going crypto in the future. We are on that path because we use credit cards, bank transfers, PayPal, and brokerage accounts for most of our transactions. Hence, there could be a possibility of having a single digital currency across the world, said Carter.
“However, on the flip side, there is also the possibility where countries would want to control everything. And they will end up having one specifically for their country. For example, there are reports that Venezuela and Ethiopia are considering it because their infrastructure is so degraded from the physical currency that they are trying to use it on a digital platform. The thought process is that since physical is already broken might as well move everybody to a digital platform.
"If most big companies and countries in the world are going to opt for cryptocurrency, many other ones will follow suit,” he concluded.
