Omdia's global survey of 500 enterprises across four major regions, identifying shifting business and IT priorities and spending into 2021 and beyond.
Between July 2020 and August 2020, Omdia conducted an online survey of 500 global enterprises in all four major regions. The surveyed companies ranged from large domestic enterprises to multinationals and government entities. Respondents had to be ICT decision-makers or play a significant role in specifying and influencing ICT purchasing in their organisations.
Omdia expects IT services spending to turn positive by year-end 2020. China’s GDP became positive again in 2Q20, with a growth rate of 4%. Other nations experienced their trough in 2Q/3Q 2020. Macroeconomic conditions in parts of Asia, for example, have already improved significantly.
Closure of international borders has been longer and more stringent than Omdia expected. Many nations expect to keep their borders closed until 2021. This will be a significant drag on recovery, especially for industry segments in transportation, hospitality, and retail.
Enterprises accelerated projects for some key digital themes including Agile, customer experience (CX)/digital tools, and intelligence. These themes will drive IT spending post-pandemic. Other areas to benefit include cloud, software-defined everything (SDx), omnichannel, and security.
