Practice in the same location and circumstances you'll be presenting

Print out your notes for easy reference

Test your connection

Do a technical rehearsal several days before you go live

Use a hardwired internet connection where possible

Ensure you test any equipment you’ll use on the day, e.g. headphones, microphones

Join 30 minutes before going live for a final connection test

On the day

Choose a well-lit, quiet space

Hang a ‘do-not-disturb’ sign on the door

Have a glass of water and your notes nearby

If you are using a laptop, ensure the charger is plugged in

Use the same audio/visual equipment as in your rehearsal to avoid any unexpected technical hitches

Speak in a clear, positive and enthusiastic tone of voice to ensure you keep your listeners engaged!
