This presentation was given by Professor Robert Dingwall, Professor of Sociology, Nottingham Trent University during our June 2020 Clinical Trials Digital Week.
This talk discusses what the social sciences have to offer vaccine development and why social scientists and vaccine researchers should be talking to each other at an early stage in the process. When a vaccine leaves the laboratory, its fate is determined by society rather than science. Bringing society into the laboratory will help to achieve acceptability and prevent provoking or amplifying fears.
